Did you ever wonder what writers read when they curl up with a good book? My friends have asked me to share my Summer Reading List with them. As a fan of SF (science fiction) and M (mystery), there is a lot of it on my list, most of it R (romance), but not all of it.

By the way, The Girls From Alcyone was #38 on Amazon.com’s most popular Science Fiction just a few days ago. It’s really worth the read.
Hey, I saw that you have The Stainless Steel Rat on your list. That’s too cool. One of my favourite books of all time (along with the first two sequels: STR Revenge and STR Saves the World).
It’s harder and harder to find Harry Harrison fans these days. If you’ve never read Homeworld or Deathworld, I highly recommend those too.

I reeled my husband in over the Harry Harrison novel “Make Room, Make Room.” We met for the first time at B&N and I was telling him that “Soylent Green” was based on this book. He doubted me. So I dragged him over to SF and found it on the bottom shelf. Of course reaching down to retrieve it ended up being an impromptu “Bend and Snap” which has become family lore. Needless to say, Harry Harrison remains a family favorite to this day. 🙂
Bend & Snap! Awesome – especially over a Harry Harrison Book. And I’m sure it was very ‘impromptu.’ When I met my wife, just the fact that she loved HH was enough to snag me. No B&S required.
Whenever I’m struggling with my writing I whip our one of his novels. The next thing I know I’m hacking hundreds to thousands of words out of my scatter-brained-meandering-run-on prose. Those old newspaper men & woman sure knew how to write lean.
