Welcome to Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday. Snippets of ten sentences or less are yours for the reading!
Last week we met Inner Circle agent Ian Kendall who was called in to investigate the hovercycle accident that put Blade on a med ship orbiting a backwater planet. Kendall has given orders that Bo (in her guise as Marissa, Blade’s Joy Babe Companion) cannot visit Blade. When Bo sought him out to confront him on it, he was waiting for her and has led her into an exam room where he sealed the door shut.

The air crackled between them with unspoken tension. There was more to it. He was only waiting for her to respond, to make a mistake, before he went for the kill. The two of them stared at each other patiently waiting. It was like trying to navigate a plasma storm with a damaged sensor array. One miscalculation and she’d fry.
Bo trailed her fingertips along the edge of the exam table. “You think I had something to do with it.”
He nodded. “The thought occurred to me.”

That’s the snippet for the week. Thank you for stopping by. Please take the time to visit the other wonderful authors taking part in Science Fiction/Fantasy Saturday!
Ooh, nice. The ‘calm’ before the plasma storm. Great tension. Maybe she’ll hurl the examination table at him. Or her high-heels. She’s got those, let’s not forget.
I’m fairly certain we can’t forget Bo in her high heels… 😉
Dogs, the both of you. 😉
Tense! I really liked the metaphor from the plasma storm too, great visual.
Thanks!
Bo’s about to kick some backside! I know it. I just do…no one ever swipes a finger along something unless calculating which drop kick to administer. Unless, you’re a cleaning lady… Good stuff!!
Or a cleaning lady with mad ninja skills! She doesn’t just clean, she kicks dirt’s ASS!!!
Great stuff, as usual.
You sound disappointed…
He thinks that she…and she just wants to…oh, he’d better prepare to have his butt handed to him.
On a platter.
Why do sensor arrays always go blank in the middle of plasma storms – they’re like satellite dishes in the rain – bah. I was wondering who would speak first and great point to start the dialogue – I don’t get the feel either one of them like to dance around a topic. Now that the cards are on the table – I have a feeling it’s about to heat up.
You would be correct.
I love how careful she’s being. Her mind and body both have to be on super high alert. I can’t imagine the actual tension, though you a fantastic job conveying it. Love her trailing her fingers. Look, I’m being harmless. Excited for more!
She’s been on an emotional roller coaster for the past two chapters, that’s for sure!
I’m not sure which I’d rather not be.
🙂
“It was like trying to navigate a plasma storm with a damaged sensor array.” – Words can’t describe how much I love that line.
By the way, stop teasing me and tell me how she gets out of this!!
Wait, let me curl my hair real quick… *ahem*
Spoilers… 😉
