Welcome to Science Fiction Fantasy Saturday. Snippets of ten to fifteen sentences or less are yours for the reading!
Yes, this is still from BARRON’S LAST STAND. The setting is the engine room of Bo’s ship Sundance. Following a prison break which Bo orchestrated, Blade stowed away aboard her ship (unbeknownst to her until after the ship had entered hyperspace.) They haven’t seen one another in five years due to a messy breakup in which Bo threatened to shoot him next time their paths crossed. Of course, Blade is on his knees and she has her blaster leveled on him…and they’re bickering. Bo is about to get a little more than she bargained for as we are winding down the Free Ride snippets.

“That’s not the way I remember it. We always worked well together.”
“We did – until the day you screwed me over.”
“You mean in the literal or figurative sense?” His gaze raked her.
To her annoyance, her face heated as the color rose in her cheeks.
“There it is,” he said softly, the timbre of his voice dropped lower. “I never get tired of making you blush.”
If it had been any other man on his knees smiling up at her like that, she’d never have doubted the sincerity of his affection. Blade, however, was a master of manipulation and he knew exactly how to use every milligram of his considerable charm to get what he wanted.
“I just want a ride off-planet. I can make it worth your while.”
He wasn’t talking credits. She’d almost forgotten how this man wielded his sex appeal like a weapon.

I hope you enjoyed the snippet for this week. I will be off next weekend as I take a much-needed beach break with my besties, partying like a bunch of Joy Babes on vacay! I will be thinking of you all as I sip rum drinks on a white sand beach pondering Blade’s next move.
In the mean time, if you’re interested in reading more about Bo, you can pick up your ebook copies of SOVRAN’S PAWN and HERO’S END for Nook and Kindle at Amazon or Barnes & Noble or you can follow the links to the right over there.
If you’d like to read a sneak peek at BARRON’S LAST STAND you can find the first chapter at the end of HERO’S END and here on my website.

Yes, she knows he’s manipulative and uses his sex appeal as a weapon – the trouble is, it’s clearly working…
We shall see…
Wonder if she can pay him back in his own coin?
LOL! Oh yes! She most certainly can.
I think I see Bo’s shell starting to crack. Is it wrong of me to be rooting for Blade?
Nah. I’m rooting for him, too.
I love their chemistry. I know I should be cross with Blade for the manipulation, but clearly Bo is a smart, capable woman; she can only be swayed so much, if it’s not what she’s into…and who wouldn’t be into Blade? 🙂
Hah! I have missed Blade. And Bo. And I now have Pat Benatar’s Sex as a Weapon stuck in my head…
