The Day I Taught How Not to Rape

Not my normal post, but I was having a discussion on Facebook about the importance of holding men accountable for their choices and not letting them behave like mindless beasts by blaming bad behavior on female immodesty.

I like the message in this post. No means no. Yes means yes. Silence is not tacit consent.

Yesterday, the news invaded my classroom. I think the kids aren’t paying attention. I think the kids only care about the news as it relates to Justin Bieber. I think they aren’t listening or capable of advanced thought. Every single time I think one of those things, I sell out the ninth-graders that come traipsing through my room every day.
